We are Matthew and Malena, both microbiologists by trade and parents of a beautiful 1 year old baby girl.

Malena has a background in Chemical Engineering and over five years experience in bioprocess engineering and fermentation science. She is now diversifying her career into another type of fermentation, the kind that happens inside of all of us, in our gut.

Matthew works at a growing biotech startup. He’s expertise is process optimization and lean management. In other words, he develops methods to accomplish the goals of an evolving organism like a startup, and like a baby.

We combine our technical experience with parenting. As scientists, we want to optimize processes and build a solid foundation in each project we do for the future. We apply these values to our parenting and that’s how we created Early Potty, a simple and fun way to practice Elimination Communication with your baby.

When we came across EC we saw a lot of information, we found it a little overwhelming to see as a new parent trying to do our best in everything.

We went for it, we had a strong motivation to use less diapers and the hope of our baby being early potty trained. We were beyond impressed with the results we had, besides achieving our initial expectations, we found out there are much more benefits that came with it. We are now encouraging new parents to try this by compacting all the knowledge we acquired by reading about EC and by practicing it into a 40 min online class.
